Warning: The $45 meal kit I tried left me with less food than the grocery store

I finally caved and ordered one of those meal delivery boxes, thinking it would cut down on food waste. Got the 3 meal plan for me and my husband, that was $45 plus tax. After cooking the first recipe, I realized each portion was so small we had to add rice and a side salad to feel full. For the same money I could've grabbed chicken, beans, and veggies at the local Aldi and gotten like 6 dinners. Has anyone else done the math on these kits and felt totally ripped off?

Wait, is the whole point just paying extra for smaller portions? These kits are a scam, plain and simple.
