TIL a dollar store spice rack saved my meal prep budget after 3 failed attempts at fancy jars

Last month I spent $14 on glass containers from the discount aisle and now I can season chicken for 47 cents a meal instead of buying those $4 spice packets, so has anyone else found weird budget hacks in the clearance section that actually work?

Found the same thing with freezer bags, bought a box of those cheap sandwich ones and realized I could portion out marinades and freeze them flat, works way better than those fancy vacuum seal kits I wasted money on. Now my freezer looks like a weird filing cabinet of chicken and pork but my grocery bill dropped like crazy. Honestly the clearance aisle is where the real meal planning magic happens.

The flat-freeze marinade trick is gold, @ward.fiona hit the nail on the head there. I do the same with those cheap squeeze bottles from the dollar store, fill them with oil and vinegar mixes and they last forever without going bad.
