The canned tomato hoarding moment at my local Aldi got to me
So last week I walk into Aldi on a Tuesday morning, not even a weekend, and there's this lady with TWO carts full of canned tomatoes. I mean like 40 cans easy, the store brand ones that are $0.89 each. I overheard her telling someone she stocks up because prices might go up again. I get being prepared, I really do, but I was just trying to grab 2 cans for my chili recipe. I stood there for 5 minutes waiting and she was just slowly picking through every single flavor. The thing is, I got home and my chili turned out fine with the one can I managed to snag from the endcap. But it made me wonder, does hoarding stuff like that actually save money or does it just stress everyone else out? Has anyone else dealt with people clearing out cheap pantry staples before you can even get a chance?

My buddy walked into three stores last week and every single shelf was cleaned out of rice.

Seems like everyone's been stockpiling lately. First it was toilet paper and hand sanitizer, now it's rice and canned goods. I've noticed it at the grocery store too, people grabbing way more than they normally would.
