That week I ate like a king on $28 total and it was unreal
Honestly, last Tuesday I had a day where I made 6 meals out of a $4 rotisserie chicken from Costco. Then Wednesday I found a bag of onions and a box of pasta on clearance for 50 cents each at my local Food Lion in Charlotte. Thursday I grabbed a marked down pack of ground beef for $2.30 and stretched it into chili with canned beans I already had. By Friday I had not only 3 days of leftovers but also frozen stock from the chicken bones. Tbh I spent less on food that week than I do on a single fast food run usually. Has anyone else accidentally crushed a week on basically nothing?

Yeah the key is just buying stuff that can do double duty. Rotisserie chicken is basically cheating, you can shred it for tacos, throw it in pasta, or make stock from the bones. Clearance meat is the real hack though, grab it and freeze it.

Did you check the produce section around 8pm too? That's when my local store marks down the bell peppers and mushrooms, I grabbed a bag of each for like a dollar total last week. Another thing that works is buying a big tube of tomato paste instead of the tiny cans, it's usually cheaper per ounce and you can just scoop out what you need and freeze the rest. Even the store brand bread gets marked down sometimes, I got a loaf of wheat bread for 60 cents and made croutons out of the heels after it started getting stale. You can REALLY stretch a dollar if you're willing to hit the clearance rack twice a week.
