My rice cooker lid cracked mid-cook last night
Had a bag of dried beans and some rice on the stove instead, saved maybe $4 compared to takeout. Anyone else have a kitchen gadget fail on them at the worst time?

Heard cleaning the heating plate is key for those things.

Read somewhere that rice cookers fail cuz people dont clean the heating plate right. My old one just stopped heating one day and I ended up with crunchy rice and a burned pot. Made me appreciate the simple stuff like a decent pot and lid though. Got myself one of those cheapo Aroma cookers after and it works fine so far. Sometimes the old school way works just as good for a lot less stress.
