My neighbor swore by bulk dry beans over canned, I doubted her for months

Last spring, Mrs. Garcia told me I was wasting money on canned black beans at $1.50 a can when a pound of dry ones cost $1.80 and makes way more. I finally tried her method last week and got 6 cups of cooked beans from that one bag. Anyone else find that switching to dry beans actually saves them cash or is it too much hassle for you?

Oh man, you said "doubted her for months" and I gotta say I'm still a doubter even after reading this. I tried the whole dry bean thing once and it was a NIGHTMARE. You gotta soak them overnight, then cook them for like an hour, and if you forget to soak them you're screwed. Plus sometimes they come out rock hard or mushy no matter what you do. For someone who works late and just wants dinner fast, canned beans are a LIFE saver even if they cost a bit more. Time is money too and I'd rather spend that hour doing something else.

Did you try an instant pot or just a regular pot on the stove?
