I picked canned beans over dried beans and Im not sorry

Everyone in my group says dried beans taste better and cost less, but after 3 tries of soaking and cooking for hours they still came out crunchy. Canned beans at $1.29 a can save me 45 minutes and actually get soft, so why bother with the hassle?

My last batch of dried black beans from the bulk bin at my local co-op was $1.29 a pound, which makes about 6 or 7 cans worth so that math is hard to ignore for me. I soak mine overnight in salted water and they come out creamy every time with no crunch, but I know ovens and stoves are different so your mileage may vary there. That metallic taste in cans is real though, especially with cheaper brands, so I usually rinse them well before heating to cut it down. Frozen beans are a good middle ground for sure, but I still think dried wins on texture if you find the right soak time for your setup.

Yeah but dried beans have way less sodium and that weird metal taste from cans. I started buying frozen ones instead, they cook in 15 minutes and taste closer to dried than canned.
