Bought one too many $8 pre-made salads and had to face facts

I work downtown at a law office and last spring I realized I was dropping $40 a week just on grabbing lunch from the deli down the street. That's like $160 a month on soggy kale and sad chicken. Then I remembered my grandma used to make a big pot of lentil soup on Sunday that lasted till Thursday. So now I pack lunch almost every day and my wallet actually thanks me. Anyone else have a moment where they added up their daily spending and got a shock?

You ever sit down and actually add up what you're spending on coffee runs? I was doing that same thing with breakfast sandwiches from the cart outside my building. Three days a week, $7 a pop, and I was like wait, that's over $100 a month just for a sad egg on a bagel. So now I hard boil a dozen eggs on Sunday and grab one with a banana on my way out. It's not fancy, but it's fast and way cheaper.
