Wasted 20 minutes on a laptop that would not charge because I never checked the outlet first
Spent 20 minutes pulling a Dell apart in Dallas last weekend before my kid asked why the power strip light was off, and sure enough the outlet was dead the whole time. I felt like a genius. What is your dumbest repair moment where the fix turned out to be the thing you skipped?
Did the power strip have one of those little reset buttons on it that pop out when it gets overloaded? I only ask because I did almost the same thing with a space heater a few winters back, tore the whole thing apart checking the cord and the fuse, and my wife just walked over and pushed the button on the strip. I had a whole theory about a bad heating coil and everything. The outlet thing gets people more than you would guess, my dad once paid a guy 90 bucks to come out and flip a tripped breaker. At least you figured it out before you actually bought any parts for the Dell, that is the real win here.
