That caution about charging ports from a guy in Denver who knew his stuff
Was at a repair meetup in Denver last year. This older guy walks up, sees me trying to clean a USB port with a toothpick, and goes 'stop right there, you're gonna break the pins.' He showed me how a tiny piece of lint was shorting out the port on my Galaxy S9. Used some plastic spudger and contact cleaner he had, fixed it in 2 minutes. Anyone else use contact cleaner for stuff like that?

Yeah, that "stop right there, you're gonna break the pins" part really hit home for me. I've seen so many people wreck their charging ports by poking around in there with metal paperclips or toothpicks. Contact cleaner is one of those things I never knew I needed until someone showed me how well it works. It's way safer than trying to scrape stuff out and it dries fast without leaving residue. I keep a can in my tool bag now and use it on everything from phone ports to game controllers.
