Swapped my old soldering iron for a TS100 last month
I used to stick with a cheap Weller WLC100 for years, but after ruining a third laptop battery connector with its clunky tip I finally switched. The TS100 heats up in like 7 seconds and the temperature control is way more precise for tiny phone board work. Did anyone else notice a big jump when moving to a digital iron or am I just late to the party?

Honestly, the TS100 was a total game changer for me too. I still remember the first time I used it on a stubborn PlayStation controller joystick, it just melted through the solder like butter. Tbh, I think a lot of people sleep on how much a fast heat-up time saves you from ruining delicate pads. I almost went back to my old iron after a bad experience with a Chinese knockoff, but the real TS100 is just built different. Glad you made the switch, it's like going from a bicycle to a decent motorcycle.

That PS4 joystick job you mentioned is no joke. I had to do one last month and my old Weller would have scorched the board for sure. The TS100 hit temp in like ten seconds and I had both sticks swapped out before my coffee even cooled down. The tip control on those small joints is what really sold me. I was always burning through flux caps with my clunky iron but now I can get in and out clean every time. Its one of those purchases I tell everyone about even if they don't solder.
