PSA: Stop using thermal paste like it's cake frosting
I keep seeing people in here slathering a huge glob of thermal paste on their CPUs and it drives me crazy. That thick layer actually insulates the chip instead of conducting heat, and I learned this the hard way last month when my Ryzen started hitting 95C under load. A pea-sized dot or a thin spread is all you need, anything more just makes a mess and hurts your temps. Has anyone else dealt with cleaning paste out of socket pins because someone went overboard?

Heard a guy on a tech podcast say the same thing. Dude called it 'thermal paste cake' and said it’s like putting a blanket on your CPU.

@lane.joel more like a heavy wool blanket in summer when you glob that stuff on.
