Had a battery bulge in my old laptop and ignored it for 3 months
Was watching a movie in bed when the trackpad popped up and cracked the screen. Ended up having to replace the whole bottom case, screen, and battery - cost me $180 and a whole Saturday of work.

I get what you're saying but honestly three months is a long time to sit on something like that. A battery bulge is basically your laptop screaming for help, and once it starts pushing on the trackpad you're already in trouble territory. At least you got it fixed though, could have been way worse if it caught fire while you were asleep or something.

Three months is crazy. That battery was basically a ticking time bomb. I've seen what happens when those things go. Not pretty. Glad they got to it before it became a bigger problem.
