Dropped my phone in a bucket of soap water while washing my truck, rice did not save it
Last Saturday I was washing my truck in the driveway and had my phone tucked in my shirt pocket, bent over to scrub a rim and it slipped right into the soap bucket. Pulled it out fast and it was still on, so I did the dumb thing and tried to dry it off with a towel instead of powering it down. Two hours later the screen went black and it would not charge or turn back on, so I took the back panel off with a tiny torx bit and found water sitting right on the battery connector. I dried it with a q tip and let it sit open for 48 hours, and it actually booted up fine after that. Anyone know if I should replace the battery anyway since it got wet, or just run it till it dies?
That battery connector water is what worries me, since corrosion can keep eating away at it even after it seems fine. I would pop the back off once more in a couple weeks and check the connector for any green or white junk, that stuff shows up later and kills the phone for good.
