The paycheck that vanished in 48 hours and the one that sat for 2 weeks

Tbh I had the weirdest contrast last month. Got a $2,400 side job payout on a Monday, blew through it by Wednesday on parts, tools, and eating out because I felt rich. Then my regular Friday check for $1,850 just sat there untouched for two weeks while I was broke, and I didn't even touch it because I was too tired to spend. That made me wonder if the problem isn't my income but my head when I see a lump sum vs regular pay. Has anyone else noticed you treat a big check way worse than a normal one, or is that just me? Curious if budgeting apps actually fix this or if it's all discipline.
