Rant: My radiator blew on the highway and I had to choose between a tow or a hotel
Last Tuesday my 2005 Civic overheated outside of Nashville and the repair shop quoted me $800. I ended up patching it with JB Weld for $12 and drove it home slow, but now I'm wondering if I should just buy a bus pass instead of risking another breakdown.

Wait, you actually patched a blown radiator on an '05 Civic with JB Weld and drove it home slow? That's wild, man. Honestly surprised you made it without the engine seizing up or something. But hey if it works it works, just keep an eye on that temp gauge or you're gonna be walking.

That 'if it works it works' part is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, man. Honestly, how slow is 'slow' we talking here? Like, 45 in the right lane with your hazards on, or did you crawl home at 25 mph praying every pothole wouldn't finish the job? I'm curious because I've seen people JB Weld a cracked block before but a radiator always seemed like a different beast with the pressure and heat cycles. Did you have to pull over and add water every half hour or was it just a slow drip you could manage?
