Put $12 a week into a jar for 5 months and ended up with more than I thought
I started dropping a $10 bill and two singles into an old pickle jar every Friday back in March, mostly as a joke to see if I'd actually stick with it. Last week I finally counted it out on my kitchen table in Columbus and it came to $260, which is almost exactly what I owed on my smallest credit card. Does anyone else do the dumb jar thing, or am I just late to something everyone already knew about?
Man, I did the same thing but with quarters. Every time I got one back in change I threw it in an old coffee can, and after about a year it was close to $180. My wife made fun of me the whole time until we used it for a weekend trip to Cedar Point. The wild part was how fast it added up without me noticing, since a quarter here and there never feels like real money. You just proved the pickle jar beats willpower every time.
