I brought it home last Tuesday and by Friday my bedroom looked like a war zone, so for anyone grabbing used furniture to save cash, pull out every drawer and inspect the joints with a flashlight before handing over a single dollar.

Did you try steaming the whole apartment after you found them? I had a similar nightmare with a couch last year, and cranking the heat plus vacuuming every crack for a week straight was the only thing that saved my place. Also, always treat any used furniture like it's already infested before you bring it inside, just to be safe.
