My Dishwasher flooded my kitchen last Tuesday, cost me $300 in repairs

The pump seal just gave out mid-cycle and water went everywhere. Called a local plumber in Austin who charged $250 for the part and labor, plus $50 for a new mop. Has anyone else had an appliance fail at the worst possible moment and had to pull from their emergency fund?

So when the flood was happening, did your first instinct go straight to the emergency fund, or did you try to borrow a mop from a neighbor first? Seems like the part and labor cost isn't that bad compared to what some people get charged for a simple seal replacement. Just curious how long it took you to actually make the call to a plumber versus trying to fix it yourself.

$250 for a plumber in Austin is honestly a steal. My neighbor paid double that for the same fix last year.
