Hot take: a $4 notebook at the Kroger on 5th got me to $600 in my grocery jar
I was standing in line at the Kroger on 5th last Tuesday and my card got declined for a $12 pack of chicken thighs. That stung. Right there by the register they had those little pocket notebooks for $4, so I grabbed one and started writing down every single thing I spent. First three weeks I found $80 a month going to drive-thru coffee and one app subscription I forgot about. I put that money in an envelope for groceries and just hit $600 in it, which is the first time I've ever kept a food budget going past a few weeks. Anyone here use a paper notebook for tracking or do you all do it on your phone? I'm wondering if I'll stick with paper once the new wears off.
