Hit my first $10k in savings at 47, felt weirdly disappointed

After 30 years of living paycheck to paycheck in Columbus, I finally managed to save $10,000. Took me 3 years of brown bag lunches and selling stuff on Marketplace. Thought I'd feel like a boss. Instead I just sat there doing the math on how far that actually goes. One emergency root canal, a new water heater, and a tire replacement later, it's down to $6,400. Not complaining, just surprised how fast the number lost its shine when real life happened. Has anyone else hit a milestone that felt smaller once you actually reached it?

The REAL win is having that cushion at all, even if life keeps poking holes in it. I did the same thing after my first 10k and realized it's less about the number and more about proving to yourself you CAN do it. That habit of brown bagging and selling junk sticks with you way longer than the cash does. Next goal becomes 20k and somehow that feels slightly less fragile than 10k did.
