Guy at the laundry mat said he pays himself $5 every time he skips takeout
Heard him telling his buddy he saved $180 in 6 weeks just doing that and it finally made me try it. I'm on day 9 with $45 cash in a coffee can, but I keep dipping into it for gas. Anyone got a way to make the cash annoying to get to so I actually leave it alone?
Why does every money saving trick on the internet involve a coffee can or an envelope? I get that $45 feels like progress but you already dipped into it for gas on day 9, so the can was never the problem. Saving $180 in 6 weeks means he skipped takeout like 36 times, which sounds less like a money hack and more like he just stopped eating out. If the only way to keep $5 is to make it physically hard to reach, you're fighting yourself, not the takeout. Just put it in a real savings account and stop pretending the can is a system.
