Can we talk about the 'financial advisor' at my credit union who tried to sell me a whole life policy?

I went to Clearwater Credit Union in Missoula last month to open a simple savings account and the guy sitting at the desk called me over. He spent 15 minutes pitching a whole life insurance policy saying it's 'the best way to build wealth slow and steady'. I asked him what the fees were and he dodged the question twice. Look I know some people swear by it but for a 24 year old with $300 in checking that felt like a huge red flag. Has anyone else had a bank employee try to push products like that on you?

And credit unions are supposed to be different from banks. That's the whole reason people go there.
