Vent: My mortar mixer threw a bearing on a Friday afternoon
Last month I'm laying block on a retaining wall job in Akron, and my mixer starts making this grinding noise. Ten minutes later the drum seizes up completely right as I'm halfway through a pallet of 8x8x16. I had to finish mixing by hand in a wheelbarrow with a hoe like it's 1950. Has anyone found a reliable brand of mixer that doesn't die after two seasons?

Did you try turning it off and on again before the wheel fell off... I swear mixers have a built in timer set to fail on Friday afternoons.

Come on @miab16, is a wobbly mixer wheel really the end of the world? Sure it's annoying but people act like their whole baking career is over. It's just a kitchen gadget, not a life support machine. You can still make a cake by hand, you know, it's not that hard. Half the time these things last for years and people just want an excuse to buy a new one. A Friday afternoon failure is just bad timing, not some grand conspiracy.
