TIL it takes about 1,200 bricks to build a standard single garage wall, and I guessed 600
I was pricing out a small detached garage job in Dayton last month and told the customer I'd need around 600 bricks for the back wall. My supply guy pulled up the numbers and it was closer to 1,200 with the corners and everything. I felt pretty dumb standing there doing the math in front of him. Does anyone have a quick rule of thumb for estimating brick counts so I stop lowballing myself on quotes?
Man I did the exact same thing on a job off Wilmington Pike last summer, told the guy 500 bricks and my supplier just stared at me like I'd grown a second head. Guess the move is just take whatever number feels right and double it, then add a few for the corners you forgot about. So basically we're both just guessing with extra steps.
