The site foreman's laser level rule saved my wall after 30 feet

We were laying a long retaining wall by the river and hit 30 feet before I noticed it was leaning back 1/4 inch. He made me pull every course and re-set with a laser every 5 feet, which took us all day. Anyone else swear by checking levels way more often on longer runs?

So we're talking about a quarter inch over 30 feet? That's basically nothing, that wall would have been fine. River banks shift and settle anyway, so chasing a hair of lean on every course sounds like a whole day wasted for nothing. The laser every 5 feet thing makes sense on paper, but out in the field you gotta weigh that against the time and money.
