Yeah, @brookes37 is right about the time saved, but they're even better for keeping your layout from drifting on long runs.

My uncle in Phoenix swore by those spacers for years and I always brushed him off. Then I had to redo the tile around my fireplace last fall, which had these annoying rounded corners. I caved and bought a bag, and honestly, they saved me about three hours of fiddling and cursing. Getting the grout lines even on a curve by eye is basically impossible. Now I keep a box in my truck for any weird angle work.

Rounded corners are the worst. I had to do a kitchen backsplash with a curved edge and tried to freehand it at first. The spacers let you snap off little pieces to match the curve exactly. It looks way more professional when the grout lines stay the same width all the way around. Total game changer for any tile that isn't a straight line.
