Hit 10,000 bricks laid in a single month and my back is screaming about it

Just finished a big commercial job in Phoenix and the foreman gave us the final count. My crew and I put down over 10,000 standard modular bricks in 30 days. That's a personal record for me, and it's way more than I thought we could handle with the heat. We were mixing mud and setting brick for 10 hours a day, six days a week to hit the deadline. Honestly, the number is cool, but I'm mostly just tired. What's the most brick you've ever laid in a month on a big push like that?

10k bricks sounds like a lot until you do the math. That's only 500 a day for a two man crew, maybe 350 each if you had three. On a commercial job with a steady pace and a mixer, that's just a normal week. My uncle did residential chimneys and he'd lay 400 by himself before lunch.

Yeah, I always thought that was a crazy amount.

Totally agree. My dad ran a small crew for years and they'd knock out 8,000 to 9,000 bricks in a week on a standard house, nothing crazy. People see a big number and think it's impossible, but once you factor in the rhythm of the job and a good mortar mix, it's honestly just a solid week's work.
