That's a solid line. Sounds like the kind of thing you'd hear right before someone blames their trowel for everything.

Yeah I used to be the opposite actually. I thought it was always the person's fault no matter what. But @fisher.reese's comment about blaming the trowel for everything got me thinking. I've definitely seen guys with a brand new trowel still mess up a corner and then blame the tool not their wrist angle. But I've also seen a real bad trowel with a warped blade make a pro look like a beginner. So maybe it's more about knowing when it's actually the tool versus when it's you. That balance is probably the real skill.

Honestly, it's probably not that deep. People just like to have a catchphrase for when things go sideways. Blaming the tool is a classic move, but it's usually the person holding it. Makes for a funny moment more than a real problem.
