Got into it with the crew about using a brick hammer for everything
I swear by using just a brick hammer for cutting and shaping, but everyone else says dedicated tools are faster and safer! This came up after I finished a complex arch solo. Am I stuck in the past or onto something?

Respect the brick hammer for sure, but your crew has a point on safety for some jobs. Trying to cut a hard paver with just a hammer can send a nasty shard flying at your leg, and shaping a curve for that arch is way more precise with a chisel. It's like what @jenniferr89 did with a screwdriver, it works but a drill is just safer and gets the job done right without stripping every screw. The right tool isn't just about speed, it's about keeping your fingers intact.

You know, I totally get where you're coming from! I built my own fireplace with just a brick hammer and it turned out great, even if it took a bit longer. Sometimes the right tool is the one you're best with, not just the fastest.

Love your brick hammer story, I built a bench with just a screwdriver and it's still solid.
