The fence guy who told me to walk away from a $2,000 fix I planned
I was set to replace every rotten post on my back fence myself, bought the concrete and brackets, then this older contractor driving by rolled down his window and said 'you're fixing the wrong side, the posts are fine but the rails are split.' He showed me how one rail failure was making three posts lean, and told me to return everything except the brackets. So now I'm torn: do you trust the random expert who saves you time and money, or do you stick with your original plan because you already started and it feels like backing down?
