Spent 4 hours on a 10 minute fix because of one stripped screw on my IKEA dresser
I picked up a used 3 drawer Malm dresser off Craigslist for $40 in Sacramento last weekend and figured it would be a quick reassembly job. The third cam lock screw was stripped so bad that my drill just spun it, and I ended up cutting the head off with a hacksaw blade by hand, which took most of the afternoon. What do you all keep around for stripped screws, or is a stripped screw extractor set actually worth buying?
Man I once spent an entire Sunday on a "quick" shelf build because I cross threaded a bolt and refused to admit defeat. My pride cost me more than the furniture did. A cheap extractor set from Harbor Freight has saved me a few times since then, worth the ten bucks just for the peace of mind.
