Update: chose a pothos cutting over a snake plant from my neighbor's clippings, and 6 weeks later it has 3 new leaves

I was at my neighbor Deb's place in Tucson last month and she let me take one clipping from her plant shelf, so I grabbed the pothos instead of the snake plant. It's sitting in a mason jar on my kitchen sill and just pushed out leaf number 3, which is way more than I expected this fast. Anyone else had better luck rooting pothos in plain water than in soil?
