Showerthought: my grandma's fern corner went from 12 plants to 2 in about 15 years
She used to have ferns hanging in every window of her sunroom in Macon, but after she switched to central air the humidity in that room fell apart and they just kept crisping up one by one. Now she's down to a snake plant and one stubborn Boston fern she babies with a spray bottle every morning. Anyone else notice their houseplants struggle after an HVAC change, or is it just her place?
Did the AC really kill them though, or did she just get tired of the daily watering? Plenty of people run central air and still keep ferns alive, so maybe the crispy thing was more about her losing interest than the air itself. A dozen ferns is a ton of work, so going down to 2 sounds more like a choice than a tragedy.
