Shoutout to the person who told me to bottom-water my calathea

I argued it was pointless for weeks, but my plant's brown edges finally cleared up after I gave in and tried it for a full month. Anyone else have a stubborn plant care belief they were totally wrong about?

But doesn't misting actually help with humidity?

You ever try misting a fern for a few weeks straight? I did it every single day and the tips still got crispy. Bottom watering is good for calatheas because it pulls water up through the roots instead of sitting on the leaves. Misting ferns is a different story though. It actually doesn't raise the humidity enough to help a fern that's already struggling. You're better off putting a humidifier right next to it or grouping it with other plants.
