Shoutout to the guy at the Richmond plant swap who got me to stop tossing my spent potting soil
Honestly I always dumped old soil from my containers in the alley and bought fresh bags every spring, which was dumb since I was going through like 6 bags a year at $12 a pop. This guy Marcus at the swap in Richmond showed me his setup where he just recharges the old stuff with compost and a little perlite, and his tomatoes looked better than anything I grew. So now I have a tarp in the yard where my old mix sits with worms in it, and yeah the first batch smelled weird for a bit but the peppers I put in it are doing fine. Anyone else reusing soil long term, and how often do you swap it out completely?
