PSA: My peace lily perked up after I changed one watering habit

My peace lily looked sad and droopy for months. I kept adding more water, sure it was just dry. The leaves got yellow and wilted even worse. I checked a plant blog for help. It said peace lilies droop from overwatering, not thirst. I now wait for the soil to dry before watering. The plant bounced back fast and looks great again!

Peace lilies are so dramatic when thirsty, but overwatering is the real killer. What other plants have you found are fussy about water?

Spider plants get crispy brown tips when you overwater them, I learned that lesson myself. @lisa563's story totally confirms how crucial dry spells are for lots of indoor plants.

My friend's snake plant turned mushy and yellow from constant watering. She finally let the soil dry out completely between drinks, and it recovered quickly. Why do we always think more water is the answer to every plant problem?
