PSA: My attempt at cross-pollinating my heirloom tomatoes in Portland went totally sideways

Honestly, I tried manually brushing pollen between my 'Black Krim' and 'Sun Gold' plants last summer, expecting maybe a few weird fruits. Ngl, I ended up with a bush that produced over 50 tomatoes that were all lumpy, greenish-red, and tasted kinda bland. It taught me that stable hybrids need way more control than I thought. Has anyone else in a home garden had a cross-pollination experiment blow up on them?

Did you save any seeds from those weird tomatoes, or was it a total loss?

Saved a few, but honestly, who cares if they grow true next year. They were just some lumpy tomatoes, not a family heirloom. The world won't end if I have to buy normal seeds. Feels like people make a bigger deal out of garden fails than needed sometimes.
