I used to keep all my plant tags in a shoebox, now they're in a binder

For years, I just tossed the plastic tags from my plants into an old box. I could never find the one I needed. Last fall, I bought a cheap three-ring binder and some clear plastic sheets. I spent a weekend sorting every tag by plant type and taping them onto paper. Now I can actually check care notes without digging through a mess. How do you keep track of your plant info?

Honestly, the log idea is great for routine stuff. My system fell apart because I got too detailed. I tried noting every single leaf drop and change in light, and it just became a chore I quit. Now I just take a photo of each plant with my phone once a month. The date is saved on the picture, so I can scroll back and see how it looked. It's less work and gives me a visual record of what's working.

That binder system is smart. I took it a step further and started a cheap notebook as a plant log. Every time I water or fertilize, I jot down the date and what I did next to the plant's name. It stops me from overwatering because I can actually see the last time I did it. The binder holds the static info, but the log tracks the actual care.
