I thought my pothos was dead after 3 days in the dark, turns out I was wrong

I left my pothos in a closet while repainting my apartment in Denver last month, and when I pulled it out the leaves were yellow and drooping so I almost tossed it. My neighbor told me to just water it and stick it by a window, and 4 days later it pushed out 2 new leaves. Has anyone else had a plant bounce back from looking totally gone?
