I picked wild violets over lawn grass and my yard looks better for it
Everyone in my neighborhood spends hundreds on those perfect green lawns, but last spring I let the violets take over my front yard. They bloom purple for weeks, need zero watering, and my local bees love them. Has anyone else tried letting 'weeds' do the work instead of fighting them?

Is this actually legal in my HOA?

Can you just get fined or something for that with an HOA? My cousin got a warning letter just for letting clover take over part of his lawn. The rules are usually strict about keeping things uniform and "weed free" even if the weeds look better.
