I finally gave in and bought a grow light for my apartment in Chicago

For years I thought my south facing window was enough for my plants, even during our long winters. My friend showed me her setup with a simple LED panel and her succulents were actually growing, not just surviving. I spent about $45 on a basic one and set it up over my jade plant and a few herbs. After just three weeks, the jade put out more new leaves than it had in the past six months. Has anyone else had a plant totally turn around after adding a light? I'm curious if I should get a second one for my other shelf.
