Had to pick between a $30 fern and a $60 fern at the nursery last weekend

I stood there for a good 10 minutes comparing a Boston fern and a Kimberly queen fern at Lowe's in Austin. The Boston was half the price but I knew the Kimberly queen would handle the dry air in my apartment better since my A/C runs all day. I went with the cheaper one and now three fronds are already turning brown. Should I have just coughed up the extra cash or am I being too impatient?

Ditch the Boston fern and get the Kimberly queen. You're not being impatient, that fern is just not built for your apartment's dry air. I killed three Boston ferns before I finally listened to the plant lady at the nursery. Save yourself the frustration and swap it out now before it gets sadder.

Wait, how long have you had the Boston fern? If it's only been a week or two, you might still have time to fix it. I'd agree with @tessa_hill86 on this one though, those Boston ferns are drama queens when it comes to dry air. I killed two myself before I wised up and got a Kimberly queen for my north-facing window. The Kimberly queen just sits there and minds its own business even when the A/C is blasting all day. Swap it out before that fern gets too crispy, the nursery might even take the brown one back if you're nice about it. And next time honestly just spend the extra $30, you'll save yourself the headache of watching it slowly die.
