Warning: My old boss scheduled a mandatory 3pm meeting every Friday just to ask why we weren't done yet
This was at a distribution center in Reno three years back, and the meeting always started 10 minutes before shift change so nobody could leave. I started writing down every question he asked and the answers he gave himself, then emailed him the notes each Monday, so by the fourth Friday he had nothing to say and canceled it. Has anyone else killed a pointless meeting by documenting it back to the boss?
Did the same thing at a call center years ago. Boss loved holding a 30 minute huddle before lunch just to read us numbers we could already see on our screens. I started sending him a recap after each one with a line asking what we should do different, and he stopped calling them within a month. Nothing kills a useless meeting faster than making the guy running it write down what he actually said.
