Should I report my manager for taking credit or just let it go? Here's what happened last month...
Last month at a marketing firm in Dallas, my boss presented my full campaign idea at a meeting and didn't mention my name once. Then two weeks ago she got praised by the VP for the same idea, and she just smiled and said thanks. Three years ago I had another manager who did the same thing and I stayed quiet, nothing changed. Now I'm wondering if I should go to HR about this or if that just makes things worse for me. Has anyone actually reported a boss for this and not regretted it?

Oh, "just let it go" is exactly what I told myself the first time too. I had a boss who took my entire social media strategy for a product launch, presented it to the regional director, and got a bonus for "her creative work." I stayed quiet for six months and watched her get promoted while I kept doing the actual work. When I finally went to HR, they asked why I waited so long and basically said it was my word against hers. I ended up quitting anyway. Your VP might not even know it was your idea unless you say something. That manager probably thinks you'll just eat it again like last time.

nah you're right, waiting just makes it worse. i'd send a follow-up email to your VP directly, like "hey saw that [manager] shared my deck at the meeting, here's the original with all my notes if you want more detail." keeps it professional, puts it in writing, and doesn't sound like you're whining. your manager will look dumb if she tries to claim it after that.
