Remember when a bad boss just meant a loud guy in a bad suit?

Back in my early days at a call center in Springfield, a manager would literally stand behind you and yell if your call time went over 7 minutes. We just took it. Now, after a stint at a place where a boss tried to dock pay for 'negative energy', I keep a running log on my phone of every weird demand and every time I'm asked to work off the clock. The shift happened for me about five years ago when a friend won a wage claim because she had notes. Has anyone else started quietly keeping their own records just in case?

My old boss tried to write someone up for having the wrong facial expression during a team meeting. He called it "non-verbal insubordination." I started taking notes that day too, but mostly just to remember the crazy stuff for later. It's like a free comedy show, except you're not allowed to laugh.

But is it worth the extra stress to document every little thing?
