My old supervisor called me dramatic when I asked for one Friday off for my sister's wedding
Back in 2019 I was working at a call center in Tulsa and asked my supervisor for a single Friday off, six weeks ahead, for my sister's wedding, and she looked me in the eye and asked if I was 'really that dramatic about a party.' I had already used zero vacation days that stretch and had covered three weekend shifts for other people, so I just stood there holding the request form while she went back to her email. Is it wrong to think a boss should not get to decide which family events count as real?
