My old boss made us track every minute, my new one just asks for weekly priorities
The first way had us all stressed and lying on our timesheets, the second gets the same work done without the panic. The difference was trust, plain and simple. Anyone else have a boss who switched from micromanaging to something that actually works?

Ever wonder why they call it micro managing? Because it makes everything feel small and pointless. Trust just works better.

Told my old boss I needed two hours of uninterrupted focus time instead of logging every 15 minute block, and it totally shifted how she saw my work. She realized I was getting more done in those two hours than I used to in a whole morning of tracked tasks. Now she just wants a list of my top three goals for the week and trusts me to hit them.

Oh my god, the minute tracking thing is the absolute worst. It's like they think we're robots that need a log file. My last place did that and it just made everyone creative with their math. Funny how treating people like adults who can manage a week gets the same stuff done, but without the soul crushing dread.
