My manager made me sign a 'no bathroom breaks' policy for peak season
I work at an Amazon warehouse in Phoenix. During Prime Week, our shift lead handed out a paper saying we could only use the restroom during our 30 minute lunch. I told him that's illegal in Arizona. He said I could quit. I walked out and filed a complaint with OSHA the next day. Has anyone else dealt with a company trying to skip basic labor laws?

The 30 minute lunch thing is a joke, right? In Arizona heat, that's less a policy and more of a human rights violation. OSHA is gonna have a field day with that nonsense. Your shift lead telling you to quit sounds like a fast track to a big settlement for you. Honestly, I bet Amazon's legal team would pay a lot of money for that guy to just keep his mouth shut. I hope you're documenting everything, because that's textbook wrongful termination and unsafe work conditions.

Human rights violation" is a bit strong here honestly. OSHA has specific heat stress guidelines and they're serious about enforcing them, but a 30 minute lunch break by itself isn't automatically illegal. The issue would be if they're not giving water breaks in between or forcing people to work in unsafe heat conditions. That's where the real problem is. Your shift lead definitely needs to watch what they say though, because suggesting someone quit over a policy complaint is a huge red flag for any future legal case. Definitely document everything like you said, but focus on the actual heat safety violations not just the break length.
