My boss made me buy a $300 'team building' course that was just a guy reading a PowerPoint.
It was a total waste and came out of my own pocket because he said it was 'required for growth'. Has anyone else had to pay for their own useless training?

Three hundred bucks is a lot, but some places just have weird rules for that stuff.

Wait, he made you pay for it yourself? That's insane. That should be a company expense, full stop. A three hundred dollar PowerPoint reading session is bad enough without it coming out of your own money. I'd be checking the employee handbook or something, that can't be right.
